I am a Nutritious Movement® certified Restorative Exercise Specialist (RES) and also a Pilates Teacher, certified with the Pilates Foundation.

Originally working as a sound engineer in the film and television industry. I began practicing Pilates in an attempt to manage the frequent episodes of back pain I was experiencing from long hours of sitting in the post production studios. Pilates got me moving again. It gave me the tools to manage my pain and also release some of the negative holding patterns that chronic pain can bring about. It gave me the confidence to move again and was the start of my movement journey. In 2010 after much soul searching, I decided to leave my work in film and television and retrain as a Pilates teacher.

Through my Pilates teaching I came across the work of Katy Bowman, a biomechanist and movement educator. Katy’s approach to movement was revelatory and it opened my eyes to the idea of movement as being so much more than just “exercise”. Her groundbreaking book Move your DNA was a huge paradigm shift for me and I was literally hooked from the first chapter.

I began to immerse myself in her work, listening to every one of her podcasts, and reading as many of her books and blog posts as I could find. In 2017, I took the opportunity to train with her as a Restorative Exercise Practitioner. It was a two year training program that took me to Sequim in the US for the final certification process.

I now teach both Restorative Exercise and Pilates, group classes. 1:1 Sessions and workshops in West Sussex.

Along my journey what has struck me the most is that you can’t bank movement. To be aligned and well requires life long changes in the way in which you use your body and interact with the world around you.

No matter where you are starting, if you change how you move, you can change how you feel. I can honestly say I am happier and feel healthier now than I did 10 years ago.

Movement is a powerful tool. We can transform our bodies, families, communities, and planet... simply by moving more
